Lindsborg in Bloom is fast becoming one of Lindsborg's favorite events and this year promises to be even more groovy! The fun starts at 10:00 a.m. with exciting new additions that include art vendors and a performance stage where you can set up your lawn chairs and enjoy an afternoon filled with talent.Free kids zone starts at 11:00 a.m. with bouncy houses and fun art projects. Sign up for a 60's tune inspired lip sync battle and stay into the evening for a Street Dance!!

05/05/17Pre-school screeningThe Early Childhood program and...The Early Childhood program and McPherson County Special Education Cooperative will hold a preschool screening May 5th 8:30-11:30 am at the First Presbyterian Church, 1400 N. Main in McPherson. These screenings are for children up to the age of 5 and tests hearing, vision, motor skills, and other areas of childhood development. Services are free of charge, however a custodial paret must give their permission for the child to be screened. Appointments are requested. Call the Early Childhood Center at 620-241-9590.

05/06/17McPherson College C.A.R.S. Club Car ShowMcPherson College C.A.R.S. Club Car...McPherson College C.A.R.S. Club Car Show, 9am-3pm Saturday May 6. Run entirely by the students. Some of this year’s feature cars are:1931 Cadillac V-16, 1937 Mercedes-Benz 540K, 1955 Dodge La Femme, 1957 Chrysler 300 “Road America Competition Model”,  1957 Mercedes-Benz SLS, Tribute 1967 Camaro #1.  Bill Warner and Tom Cotter will host a book signing at 10am. Many other events throughout the day. The show is free for all spectators. There is a charge for entering a car, but it goes directly to the student club. 05/06/17MillfestMillfest at the Old Mill...Millfest at the Old Mill Museum in Lindsborg is May 6th 9am - 5 pm and Sun May 7th noon - 5 pm. Mill tours, see the 1898 Flour Mill in operation. There's a Quilt Show and demonstrations of traditional arts, and music featuring regional musicians. Admission is $2 for adults, $1 ages 6-12, under 6 are free. 05/06/17McPherson County Historical Society monthly meetingThe McPherson County Historical Society...The McPherson County Historical Society will meet at 2 pm Saturday, May 6th at the McPherson Museum, 1111 E. Kansas Ave. This months program will be be given by Eric Dudley, instructor in the Department of History at Kansas State University. Eric, who recently received his Doctor of Philosophy, wrote his Dissertation on "The Memory and Memorialization of James Birdseye McPherson." A power-point will be used to give a brief overview of the service of General James McPherson, during the civil war, but the majority of the talk will be on the unveiling of the monument in McPherson, located in Memorial Park behind the courthouse. It was a day long ceremony on July 4, 1917, 100 years ago this year. All interested person are invited to attend at no cost or membership. For more information call David Nigh at 620-241-0604.
05/08/17McPherson College Band concertThe McPherson College Bands will...The McPherson College Bands will perform their Spring concert on May 8that 7:30 pm in Brown Auditorium on the campus of McPherson College. McPherson College’s Band Director Kyle Hopkins will also be performing a horn solo with the MC Band, “Three Contrasts for Horn and Wind Ensemble” by Claude T. Smith with guest conductor Professor Shawn Knopp from Tabor College. Hopkins performed the solo horn piece in Hillsboro, KS with Tabor College’s Symphonic Band on April 23rd, under the direction of Knopp.  So this performance will be the second installment of the McPherson College-Tabor College collaboration of bands this spring.  Then on May 11that 7:30 pm in MIngenback Theatre on the campus of McPherson College, the McPherson College Music Department will host its annual Studio Showcase Recital featuring top students from McPherson College’s brass, guitar, piano, vocal and woodwind studios.    Both events are free and open to the public.

05/13/17Good Ol' Boys BBQ Contest and SamplingGood Ol' Boys BBQ Contest...Good Ol' Boys BBQ Contest is Saturday May 13, following an evening of dancing and family fun in downtown McPherson, during All School's Day Weekend. Friday evening, May 12, contestants for the BBQ contest set up and begin the process of creating the most delicious BBQ you've ever tasted, right in front of Hopp's Sound on Euclid between Ash and Elm. King Midas will play the music, you bring your dancing feet until 11 pm, and Saturday morning, the judging begins at 11 am. Public sampling to follow at noon, only $10 to try 20 different teams' BBQ.

05/20/17Craguns gospel quartet in concert at Bethel Mennonite InmanThe Craguns, a gospel quartet,...The Craguns, a gospel quartet, will be in concert on Saturday, May 20 at 6:00 p.m. at Bethel Mennonite Church, 1 1/2 miles south of Inman.  The Craguns are comprised of husband and wife, Jordan and Elena Cragun, Ray Cragun (Jordan's Father) and Nick Adams (Cousin). Jordan and Elena Cragun got their start in Gospel music in Idaho where Jordan toured for 4 years with the Boise based, Liberty Quartet.  At a Craguns concert you can expect to laugh, be challenged and leave encouraged! The Cragun Family is absolutely committed to effectively ministering the Gospel through song. They will do this through Spirit filled, Christ honoring, musical excellence for people of all ages! The Cragun name may be relatively new to the Gospel music scene, but its a name that will soon become synonymous with great Gospel music!  There is no admission fee; a love offering will be received.
