Not many townships in McPherson County responded to a call for damage estimates from the storms that caused flooding in late May and early June.
McPherson County Emergency Management Director Darren Frazier told the McPherson County Commission this week that only Marquette township had turned in an estimate to receive federal disaster funds.
“When we were out, we saw some flooding across some roads,” Frazier said. “I'm sure they've got some grading and stuff they do that they consider part of their own, regular maintenance, I'm assuming. But we only had Marquette.”
Frazier also reported that the damage suffered by the flooding in the City of Marquette, alone, was enough to qualify the county for federal disaster funding.
