The registration period is over for the United Way of McPherson County 2015 Triathlon next weekend, and now the route has been released ahead of the event.

The annual triathlon will get underway next Saturday at 8 a-m at the McPherson Water Park and includes a 200-meter swim, a seven-mile bike ride and a two-mile run.

A new element with this year's race is the Live United Corporate Challenge.

“And they are competing for a traveling trophy designed by a client at the Clayworks,” United Way Executive Director Anne Kirchner said. “It's actually really cool. It's a blue plate with a brass emblem in the middle, the triathlon emblem. It's a traveling trophy, but if a company wins it three years in a row, they get to keep it.”

All events begin and end at the water park, with the swimming leg at the pool. Bikers will start in the water park parking lot and head south on Lakeside Drive, east on Euclid, north on Maxwell and then east on Northview Avenue until 17thAvenue, where they will retrace their route back through west Lakeside Drive.

Runners will take off west on Simpson, south on Hartup, east on Euclid, north on Charles, east on Simpson, north on Eshelman, west on Sharp and then loop southwest through west Lakeside.

Volunteers with lime-green shirts will help to mark the race courses.
