OVERLAND PARK — McPherson’s Hannah Marshall had a huge day in the inaugural Missouri-Kansas All-Star softball games recently hosted by Blue Valley Recreation.
Two games were played, but since it was an exhibition no scores were kept. Marshall had two hits on the day and they were both huge — a three-run homer and three-run double.
The All-State games showcased players who had been nominated throughout the season at participating All-State Games qualifiers. Players were nominated for displaying great overall effort and tournament performance throughout the season as well as displaying great sportsmanship. Only players from the states of Kansas and Missouri were eligible.
Marshall, who has signed to play softball this upcoming year for Ottawa University, had a tremendous summer for the McPherson 18U Lady Express team that finished 24-6.
She hit a team-high .479 in 29 games, with 10 doubles and a homer. She drove in 22 runs. She struck out only six times in 73 at-bats and scored 30 runs. Her slugging percentage was .658 and she had an OPS of 1.205.
