LINDSBORG — New Bethany College women’s softball head coach Laura Moreno has announced that Kaity Rash of Cherryvale has signed a letter of intent for the upcoming season.

She will be transferring from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, where she pitched and played the outfield. Rash also has attended Independence Community College and Allen County Community College.

At Southwestern Oklahoma State, Rash played in 26 games, starting half of them. She batted .295 with 13 hits, one double, one triple and three home runs, in addition to a .568 slugging percentage, six runs and 11 RBIs.

Rash played her high school softball at Labette County and had a super senior season with seven doubles, six homers and three triples, while hitting .444.

"We are pleased to welcome Kaity Rash to the Swedes’ softball family,” Moreno said. "Kaity will bring some needed experience to our outfield. She has a very strong arm, reads the ball well and can make solid contact at the plate. We look for her to be an impact with both playing experience and leadership. We are excited to work with Kaity and see her develop as a student, athlete, and person at Bethany College.”

Rash is the daughter of Jonathan and Tami Rash. She plans to major in physical education.
