Wichita man arrested for failure to register as a sex offender, two others on drug charges Monday

A traffic stop Tuesday evening yielded multiple arrests for the McPherson Police and McPherson County Sheriff's departments, including a Wichita man who had failed to register as a sex offender.

According to McPherson County Communications, officers and deputies made contact with a vehicle in the 800 block of North Grimes just after 6 p.m. Tuesday.

Among the arrests was Shane Weems, 34, who was wanted on a Sedgwick County District Court warrant for failure to register as a sex offender. He was also charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, trespassing and interference with a law enforcement officer. His total bond, including the Sedgwick County warrant, was $105,250.

Also arrested was Shannon Spear, 44, of Inman, on charges of possession of a controlled substance, drug paraphernalia and transporting an open container for a bond of $2,750.

Justin Sullivan, 35, of Marquette, was arrested on a McPherson Municipal Court warrant for criminal damage to property with a bond of $195 and a McPherson County District Court warrant for failure to appear, which carried no bond.

All three were confined in the McPherson County Jail as of Wednesday morning.

The driver, Brenda Hall of McPherson, was issued a ticket for an expired registration and transporting an open container.
