KCAC announces radio venture

WICHITA— The KCAC announced today a partnership with Rocking M Media, LLC (RMM) to provide play-by-play radio coverage of conference football, and men's and women's basketball games. 

Under the newly launched Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference Network (KCACN), a football Game of the Week as well as Saturday men's and women's basketball games will be broadcast throughout central and western Kansas.

In addition to the regular-season football and basketball games, KCACN will broadcast one men's quarterfinal game (TBD), one women's quarterfinal game (TBD), one men's semifinal game (TBD) and one women's semifinal game (TBD). KCACN will broadcast both the men's and women's Championship games on Championship Monday to be held at Hartman Arena in Park City.

With more than 100 hours of programming anticipated for each year under the three-year agreement, KCAC commissioner Dr. Scott Crawford is excited about the partnership.

"This partnership takes the conference to new heights in media attention allowing all 12 member schools to benefit from these weekly broadcasts," he said. "We look forward to the initial coverage as well as working diligently to expand the network with additional affiliate members throughout the state as well as into Nebraska and Oklahoma."

Christopher Miller, president of Rocking M Media said, "Our team at Rocking M Media is fired up to launch the KCAC Network, and provide a real “Game Of The Week” experience to all our KCAC partner institutions and showcase them to our radio listeners in Central and Western Kansas and around the world via the internet."

As the "Official Broadcast Partner" of the KCAC, RMM and KCACN programming will carry pre-game shows will be a part of game-day broadcasts. Interviews with coaches, players, and a breakdown of all of that week's KCAC athletics will make up a standard pre-game show.

"We are extremely passionate about the KCAC and everything the conference stands for," James Westling, Operations Manager for Rocking M Media stations in Salina, Great Bend and Hays said. "This is a great opportunity for us to help promote the league on a statewide level, and we are looking forward to getting started this fall."

To ensure that each school in the conference has the opportunity to be covered at least once throughout the season, the first six weeks of competition will be set to the schedule below, with the remaining five weeks of the season TBD. Each week's matchups will determine the game of the week during the final five weeks of the season.

McPherson College football and basketball, of course, is carried by 96.7 KBBE with Chris Swick on the play-by-play and Steve Sell providing color commentary.

The KCACN will launch on 92.7 The New Zoo, KZUH-FM in Salina; The Marshal 96.3 KERP-FM or* News Talk 1370 KGNO-AM in Dodge City-Garden City; The Patriot 105.7 KRMR-FM and 1510 KNNS-AM in Hays-Great Bend-Larned; and Classic Rock 102.5 KKCI-FM or News Talk 730 KLOE-AM in Goodland-Colby. KCACN will continue to add additional affiliates throughout the broadcast season.
