SEWARD, Neb. — Bethany College’s volleyball team began its season Saturday with a straight-sets loss to Concordia University, which received votes in the NAIA national preseason poll.

Concordia won 25-15, 25-11 and 25-8.

“Today was a great learning experience for us,” said Cheri Lindsay, making her debut as BC head coach. “We went up against a very tough team and I saw some things we need to work on. But I also saw some very good things as well. All we can do is brush that loss off and come out harder next week against York."

Leila Whaley had team-highs of seven kills and five assists for the Swedes. Conner Stolley led in digs with seven.

Bethany will host York at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
