A wireless communications tower was given the go-ahead by McPherson County Commissioners during Monday's meeting.
County Planning, Zoning and Environment Administrator John Verssue said the 250-foot tower would be located near the City of Inman's boundary...
“This will mainly be providing wireless service to the city of Inman and southwest portions of the county,” Verssue said.
Verssue said there was only one small hiccup in the planning process for the tower, which is owned by MW Towers and would only be 700 feet away from an existing tower.
“However, that tower is much shorter and the applicants response, the height did not meet their requirement,” Verssue said. “Also, the tower lies within the city of Inman boundary, and so the planning board did not feel that it was a hindrance to the development of this tower.”
The county commission followed the planning and zoning board's recommendation and approved the construction of the tower unanimously after no public spoke during the hearing.
