The McPherson County Commission had some movement on a long-simmering signage project in the southwest quadrant of the county Monday.

McPherson County Public Works Director Tom Kramer reported that the Kansas Department of Transportation had awarded the project to an Iowa company called Haren's Trees and Critters for $103,984.

“The participating cost, which we would pay, is $652 dollars,” Kramer said. “That's more to transport the old signs that they take out of the ground. They get paid to haul those to us.”

The southwest quadrant of McPherson County is defined as from Main Street in McPherson west and U.S. Highway 56 south.
