Do you know someone who has given back to their community tirelessly?

For the first time, the McPherson County Community Foundation board is asking for your nominations for Philanthropist of the Year, which will be awarded at a reception in November.

In the past, the Foundation took nominations from organizations only.

“The change was made in an effort to increase the numbers of applications received and recognize people for their overall work not necessarily tied to one organization,” Becky Goss, MCCF President and CEO, said.

The nomination period starts on Tuesday and is open until Oct. 15, with a postmark deadline of Oct. 16. Finalists can choose a McPherson County organization or group to receive a grant for project or operational expenses.

Nomination forms may be found at If you have any questions, contact the MCCF at 245-9070.

Selected philanthropists and organizations will be announced during a Recognition Reception on Nov. 19 at the McPherson Opera House.
