LINDSBORG — Bethany College’s men’s soccer team scored two goals in each half Friday to deal Presentation College of South Dakota a 4-0 setback.
Four different Swedes scored — Trevor Kistler, Luis Fernando Pinto, Christopher Telemoque and Phillip Crowell.
Jose Sanchez came up with the shutout, turning back three attempts.
“Presentation played very hard throughout the game and we played better tonight than our first game out,” Bethany coach Shane Taylor said. “We had more time in the midfield than we did last Saturday, we were more comfortable and started some attacks to score some goals today. I think we played as well as we could have played today and I'm pretty happy with our performance from the back all the way up to the front. Jose Sanchez made saves we needed him to make and I thought we were more organized tonight than our first game."
Bethany, now 1-1, hosts Southwestern Christian on Tuesday.
• PRESENTATION WOMEN 1, BETHANY 0 — Jamie Harlan’s first-half goal for Presentation decided the outcome.
Erica Schramm had four saves for Bethany, which actually had a 15-8 advantage in shots.
“Tonight we were tested in a different manner than our game last week,” BC coach John Markey said. “Having most of the possession of the ball we struggled to find the back of the net. The girls made every effort possible towards the end of the game to even the score, but luck was not on our side. I was especially proud of Arianna Anaya, who had a great game individually despite the outcome."
Bethany, 0-2, plays Friday at Culver-Stockton.
