The City of McPherson is asking for your input on proposed playground equipment at Hess Park.
Public Lands and Facilities Director Wayne Burns presented McPherson City Commissioners with a few options for new playground equipment at the park, located on West Northview Avenue. Burns recommended a set from Playworld.
“It's got about 20-plus play components,” Burns said. “It's $56,666.60, and that's just for the equipment. It's projected as a community build, and then have the Street Department come in and do the curbs and put a sidewalk through, so we'd have two different play areas.”
There was some concerned raised as to the placement of the playground, with fears that it may end up being too close to Northview, which Burns assured them it would not be.
“It will not be close to the street,” he said. “It will be set between the shelter and the two retaining ponds.”
The commission wants public input on the project before moving forward and has renderings of the equipment available in the Municipal Center on East Kansas Avenue for public viewing. Public comment will be taken during next week's meeting, which will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 8 due to the Labor Day holiday.
