Central Christian College’s volleyball team scored a major victory here Tuesday, knocking off a Manhattan Christian College team that qualified for the NCCAA national tournament last year.
Not only did the Lady Tigers win, they won in straight sets — 25-15, 25-20 and 25-16 as they dominated the action to pull within a game of .500 at 2-3 — 2-0 at home and 0-3 on the road.
“Manhattan Christian is always a contender at the national level in the NCCAA so we knew we had to come out and highlight our strengths right away,” CCC coach Christina Ludwick said. “We've been working on speeding up our tempo and our outsides did a great job of transitioning fast and took lots of different swings. In doing so, our middles were able to get a lot more open looks as well."
CCC’s Haley Bannister threw down 15 kills to lead the offensive attack. Assist standout Hannah Crandall came up with 25 and Bannister also was the dig leader with 15, while Ciara Costello added 11.
Central goes to Union College on Thursday as it goes for the season sweep. CCC dominated the match earlier this season at Alexander Arena.
