MHS' Achilles wins No. 2 singles division

McPherson High’s Ashley Achilles was a perfect 4-0 at No. 2 singles Tuesday to highlight the Bullpups’ performance in their own JV invitational tennis tournament at the MHS Tennis Complex.

Behind Achilles, MHS scored 21 points for third place, with Salina Central and Valley Center leading the way with 33 apiece —  the Mustangs earning the tiebreaker. The Bullpups actually tied with Smoky Valley, but also won the tiebreaker.

Great Bend scored 17 points, while other totals were Hesston (15), Buhler (14), Campus (12), Hutchinson (11) and Elyria Christian (7).

MHS’ Sophie Smith was 3-2 at No. 1 singles to take fourth place. In doubles, Madison Schmidt and Jessie Kynaston were 1-4 at No. 1 for sixth place, while Daphane Carrillo and Caitlin Frank were 0-4 at No. 2 for ninth.
