Honeck announces recruiting class at CCC

Chris Honeck has re-enforcements on the way.

Honeck today announced his 2015 Central Christian College women’s basketball recruiting class, with the players already on campus and working toward the start of the season Oct. 30 against Bethel.

"I'm very excited about this recruiting class," Honeck said. "This is a very talented group of kids that will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact on the program.  We were able to address several of our weaknesses with this group, and several of these kids have the potential to be All-Conference caliber players very quickly. Some may take a year or two to reach their full potential, but others will compete for starting roles right away. This class definitely makes us better, especially when combined with all of the talent we have returning.”

Honeck has added some much-needed size as well as depth at point guard as he likes to play at a fast tempo.

• Kelsey Austin •

A 5-10 post from Newburg, Mo. (Newburg HS). Averaged 12 points and 9 rebounds per game.  Four-year All-Conference player, 4-year letterman, 3 all-tournament team awards, KGEL Sports Writer All-Star. Participated in Beta Honor Society, FBLA, FACS, Principal's Club, Art Club, Student Council and softball. Strong around basket – will provide much needed depth and size in the post.

• Abbie Banks •

A 5-1 point guard from Dalhart, Texas (Dalhart High School). Averaged 13.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 3.7 steals per game during her senior season. Was named first-team All-State (3A/4A), Golden Spread Player of the Year, District MVP, Team MVP, and participated in both the Golden Spread All-Star Game and the ASCO All-Star game. Participated in FFA, Student Council and National Honor Society in high school.  Very good ballhandler with great basketball instincts.  Excellent passer and very good perimeter shooter.

• Heather Crittenden

A 6-2 post from El Paso, Texas (Eastlake HS). Transferred from Otero Community College (Colorado), has three years of eligibility remaining. Averaged 14 points, 8 rebounds per game. Will provide a true post presence for us. Very solid in the paint, but can step out and hit the perimeter shot. Very good passer.

• Haylee Floyd •

A 6-0 post player from Wyandotte, Okla. (Wyandotte HS). Very strong around the basket and will provide much-needed size and depth in the post. Very hard worker and an excellent student. Participated in Student Council, National Honor Society, FFA and softball while in high school.

• Kelsey Grimaldo •

A 5-2 point guard from Colorado Springs, Colo. (Doherty HS). Transferred from Lamar Community College (Colorado), will have two seasons of eligibility remaining.  Averaged 4.6 points and 3.7 assists per game last season. Very quick, good passer with a good perimeter shot.  Will provide experience and depth at the point this season.

• Brittany Howard •

A 5-8 forward from Houston. Averaged 17 points in high school. Very athletic, with a big upside. Hasn't played for two years, so getting her into basketball shape will be a priority.  Very hard worker.

• Yazmin Lopez •

A 5-7 shooting guard from El Paso, Texas (Lorretto Academy). Averaged 10.7 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 4 steals per game her senior year.  Named her team's Defensive MVP. Named to St. Michael's Winter Classic All-Tournament Team. Participated in Student Council.  Very athletic guard that can score from the perimeter to attack the rim.  Quick hands, excellent defender.

• Micah Redenbaugh •

A 5-8 forward from McPherson (Elyria Christian School). Averaged 10 points for a very good high school team. Extremely hard worker with a very good perimeter shot.  Deceptively strong rebounder.
