CCC's Howell wins medalist honors

EMPORIA — It appears the Central Christian College men’s golf team could be a force this year.

The Tigers recently opened their season competing against Coffeyville and Haskell in a netural-site meet at Emporia, and CCC’s Ty Howell and Collin Duckworth finished 1-2.

Howell blazed with terrific rounds of 73-71-144, while Duckworth shot a sizzling 75-70-145.

Also for CCC, JP Ray shot 79-75-154 and Lowell Stephens added an 82-83-165. The Tigers fired rounds of 309-299 for a 608 to tie with Haskell for second, while Coffeyville shot 299-304-603.

The Lady Tigers triumphed, led by third-place Alexis Briner, who had a pair of 90s for a 180. Caitlin Corn was fifth (108-108-216), Savannah Horn took sixth (113-113-226) and Mackenzie Gales was seventh (115-115-230).
