SHAWNEE, Okla. — Central Christian College’s volleyball team is now on the right side of the ledger as Saturday’s 3-1 victory over St. Gregory’s improved the Lady Tigers to 4-3 on the season.
Central showed some grit as St. Gregory’s won the first set 25-15, but it was all CCC after that — 25-18, 25-18, 25-21.
“We made a ton of errors we don't normally make and it was by far our worst serving performance of the year,” CCC coach Christina Ludwick said. “However, the girls were able to work through it and pull out a big win for us on St. Gregory's home floor. We've worked on mental toughness throughout preseason and they showed a lot of it tonight. Our middles were particularly great for us today. We weren't in system much, but when they were able to get swings they took advantage of the opportunity."
Haley Bannister continued to shine in her first season at CCC, leading the team with 16 kills and coming up with 11 digs, second on the team. Ciara Costello was the digs leader with 23 and Hannah Crandall totaled 33 assists.
Central goes to Haskell on Tuesday in a matchup of former MCAC teams.
