Old rivals McPherson High and Buhler are now ranked Nos. 1 and 2 in the Class 4A state poll.

The Bullpups won their home invitational last week, outlasting Class 6A power Derby for the title.

Buhler, No. 3 last week, moved ahead of defending state champion Independence for the runner-up spot. The Bulldogs dropped to No. 3, with Winfield and Coffeyville rounding out the Top 5. Thus three of the top five spots are occupied by members of Division III of the Ark Valley Chisholm Trail League.

Others to watch are Abilene, Miege and Topeka Hayden.

Hesston remains No. 2 this week in Class 3-2-1A behind Wichita Collegiate. Wichita Independent, Central Plains and Conway Springs complete the order. Others to watch are Kansas City Christian, Marysville and Sterling.
