An Inman woman was injured in a Labor Day accident near Junction City.

According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Katelyn Sanchez, 21, was eastbound on Interstate Highway 70 just about 5 miles east of U.S. Highway 77 when she lost control of her 2008 Honda Civic in a heavy downpour.

The rain caused the vehicle to hydroplane and spin right, striking a bridge railing.

Sanchez and a passenger, Brenton J. Nixon, 23, of Victorville, California, were transported to Geary County Hospital.

The accident occurred just after 7 p.m. Monday. Both Sanchez and Nixon were properly restrained.
