A former Marine has been chosen as the City of McPherson's new Code Enforcement Officer and Sanitarian.

Community Development Director Tom Stinemetze said Seith Snow of Canton was the top choice for the job.

“He was fairly impressive in his interview,” Stinemetze said, “and was the unanimous choice of our selection committee.”

Snow is a graduate of Hesston High School and was honorably discharged in March from the United State Marine Corps after serving for nine years in order to spend more time with family. Most recently, Snow was a platoon sergeant, supervising up to 30 marines.

“In addition to his mechanical skills, which he learned doing heavy equipment maintenance, he's had training in hazardous materials and has also served in the military police,” Stinemetze said.

The McPherson City Commission approved Snow's hiring effective Sept. 14, providing he passes pre-employment screening.

Snow replaces Edye Leslie, who left in August to take a position with the Kansas Corporation Commission in Topeka.
