NEWTON — McPherson’s seventh-grade football team made it two wins in a row to start the season on Thursday by blowing past Newton, 32-12.

MMS attacked both through the air (148 yards) and on the ground (122) as it displayed terrific balance.

Andrew Powell caught a pair of TD passes from Max Alexander and ran for another score. Alexander and Brycen Labertew scored rushing TDs as well and Labertew added a 2-point reception.

According to MMS coach Brandon Labertew, the defense was stout, with Devon Frantz, Adam Elliott, Avante Wade and Neil Raymond wreaking havoc.

The Bullpups play Thursday at Derby.
