DALLAS — The exhaustive road trip to Dallas didn’t weary the Central Christian College volleyball team, as the Lady Tigers came away with a split of a triangular Saturday with Dallas Christian and Southwestern Christian.
Central continues to remain on the positive side of the ledger with a 6-4 record.
The Lady Tigers won the first match against Dallas Christian in four sets, 25-21, 23-25, 25-18 and 25-14.
Haley Bannister continued to be a force for Central with 23 kills, while Mayuko Shono finished with 12. Hannah Crandall expertly quarterbacked the team with 45 assists, while Ciara Costello, as she has all season, led in digs with 29.
CCC again played four sets in its second match with Southwestern Christian, but lost 3-1. Central won the first set 25-21 and led the second set 17-8 before it all fell apart. The Eagles rallied to win that set, then won the final two and the match.
Bannister had 12 kills, Costello supplied 28 digs and Crandall totaled 37 assists.
“The first match today was a good, solid win for us, but the second, although hard-fought, lacked the overall balance we needed to beat a strong SCU team,” CCC coach Christina Ludwick said. “I thought we did a great job defensively, our offense still needs some work.”
Central is on the road again Tuesday, traveling to Haviland to play in a triangular hosted by Barclay College. The Tigers will play the Hillsdale Saints at 6:30 p.m. followed by the Barclay Bears.
