DES MOINES, Iowa — Same song, second verse.
Just as last year when they met in the NAIA national playoffs, Grand View University outlasted McPherson College’s men’s soccer team 2-1 on Saturday, though Bulldog coach Doug Quint wasn’t totally displeased with the effort.
“We played a solid match," said Quint, whose team is playing a brutal schedule as it’s now 1-3. "We grew up as a squad today and played a better game than we have so far. At the end of the game, we had a chance to win. We had a lot of guys step up for us."
Grand View led 1-0 at the half, but the Bulldogs tied it in the 66th minute as Jose Anguio bombed a shot in from 30 yards. But just like last year, Grand View scored a late goal to win it.
The Bulldogs’ Aaron Parrott had five saves, a couple of the spectacular variety.
Mac is home Wednesday to take on Manhattan Christian College.
