SOLOMON — Elyria Christian School’s volleyball team recorded its first victory of the season during Saturday’s Solomon Invitational.

The success came against Peabody (25-14, 25-19).

The Eagles lost their other matches, though some were close. They were defeated by Solomon (26-28, 12-25), Tescott (16-25, 15-25), Wakefield (19-25, 19-25) and Inman (18-25, 13-25).

“Starting the day off ahead of Solomon 24-20 in the first game and then losing it 26-28 led to a disappointing morning,” ECS coach Roger ONeal said. “However, our girls regrouped over the lunch break and played really well in the afternoon. We defeated Peabody and played well against Wakefield and Inman.”

Elyria, now 1-7, goes to Wakefield on Tuesday.
