Tough weekend for Bulldog spikers

DENVER — McPherson College’s volleyball team experienced a painful 0-4 weekend in the Johnson and Wales Classic.

Friday was particularly frustrating as Mac lost to Dakota Wesleyan and host Johnson and Wales, both in five sets. 

Against Dakota Wesleyan, Jocelyn Cochran had 13 kills, Rhianna Smith led in assists with 23 and Emily Warner racked up 32 digs.

Against Johnson and Wales, Lexi Kite had 11 kills, not to mention four aces. Smith led in assists with 19 and Warner was relentless with 36 digs.

Mac lost both matches in straight sets on Saturday.

Against Embry Riddle, Cochran and Taryn Lee led in kills with seven. Smith set it 14 times and Warner had 12 digs.

In the rematch with Johnson and Wales, Kite led in kills with 10, Smith notched 13 assists and Warner dug it out 15 times.

Mac has lost nine of its last 10 and now stands 3-9 on the season. The Bulldogs are home against KCAC newcomer Oklahoma Wesleyan on Wednesday.
