SOLOMON — The way the Inman volleyball team was playing on Saturday in the Solomon Invitational, the only question was who was going to take second.
The Teutons did not lose a single set in going 5-0 on the day for first place in the round-robin event.
The Teutons defeated Peabody (25-16, 25-21), Solomon (25-23, 25-10), Wakefield (25-10, 25-18), Tescott (25-11, 25-5) and Elyria Christian School (25-18, 25-13).
Inman coach Russ Goering said once the Teutons settled down, they had it firing on all cylinders.
“The day got off to a shaky start with our serving, so a few adjustment were made and we served the best we have all year with a 92 percent serving for the day,” Goering said.
The Teutons dominated at the net, with Naomi Williams totaling 31 kills for the day, Kassie Sneath 22 and Jalyn Froese 18.
“But even more important, Jalyn played a great back row running several balls down and making some great saves and was consistent in her passing,” Goering said. “Overall, we played more consistently than we have up to this point. Hopefully the kids learned the importance of being consistent and letting the mistakes go and being ready for the next play.”
The Teutons have a big home triangular on Tuesday with Sedgwick and Chaparral coming to town
