McPherson High and Andale hooked up for a pair of wildly entertaining football games here Monday.
The Bullpup freshmen outlasted the Indians 26-20, scoring a touchdown in each of the four quarters to even their record at 1-1.
The Bullpups led 14-6 at the half and carried a 20-14 lead into the final period.
Gabe Hoover and Kyler Hoppes had big nights offensively. Hoover caught a 50-yard TD pass from Hoppes and sprinted 26 yards for what proved to be the deciding touchdown. Hoppes also ran for a score and threw a second scoring strike to Brandon Wilson.
Cade Harris added a 2-point conversion.
The JV game was equally as tight, but the Bullpups emerged with an 18-14 victory. They are 1-0 as their first game was cancelled due to lightning.
It was 12-8 Bullpups at halftime and after a scoreless third quarter, Andale took a 14-12 lead early in the fourth quarter.
But a 9-yard TD pass from Gunnar Reiss to Brock Malm rallied MHS for the victory.
Michael Mendez scored on a 4-yard run, while Thomas Diggs recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for the other TD.
The Bullpups go on the road Monday to play Augusta.
