HAVILAND — The Central Christian College volleyball team is off to its best start in recent memory.

The Lady Tigers improved to 8-4 on Tuesday with a sweep of Hillsdale Baptist and Barclay College.

Central swept Hillsdale 25-16, 25-16, 25-10 as Haley Bannister threw down 13 kills and Mayuko Shono furnished eight. Ciara Costello hustled to 37 digs and Hannah Crandall was tops in assists with 32

Barclay also was no challenge for the Lady Tigers, who rolled in straight sets — 25-10, 25-13, 25-16. Bannister and Shono notched nine and eight kills, respectively, Crandall quarterbacked her way to 32 assists, and Costello flew around for 27 digs.

“It was fun to watch it all come together for the girls tonight,” Central coach Christina Ludwick said. “They worked really hard on staying in system and dictating the speed of the game. Two years ago when I took over this program, we won a total of eight games. To reach the eight win mark only 12 games in is a huge accomplishment for this program and for this team."

The Lady Tigers host Central Christian College of the Bible at 7 p.m. Friday at Alexander Arena.
