McPherson High’s 2-1 road victory over previously undefeated Salina South last Thursday, coupled with its 3-0 victory over Winfield two days earlier, vaulted it this week in the Kansas Soccer Coaches Association’s rankings.

MHS, which takes a 6-1 record to Augusta on Tuesday, is now ranked No. 3 in Class 4-1A behind Rose Hill and Bishop Miege.

The Bullpups and Rose Hill will square off a week from Tuesday in Rose Hill in what should be one of the top games in Kansas during the regular season.

Basehor-Linwood is No. 4  in 4-1A and Kansas City Christian is ranked No. 5.

Salina South, which was No. 2 in Class 5A before losing to McPherson, dropped two spots to No. 4 behind St. Thomas Aquinas, Shawnee Heights and Blue Valley Southwest.
