McPherson High’s soccer and volleyball teams will attempt to keep their steamrolling seasons going on Tuesday.
The soccer team takes to the road for what will be the halfway-point game of the regular season. The Bullpups travel to Augusta in an attempt to improve to 7-1 on the year.
MHS has climbed to No. 3 in the Class 4-1A state poll. After Tuesday’s game, they have back-to-back games they have pointed to all season, a home game Thursday against Hutchinson and then a road game the following Tuesday against the No. 1 team in 4-1A, Rose Hill.
The MHS volleyball team, which has stretched its winning streak to 11 since a season-opening loss to Newton and is ranked No. 3 in Class 4A Division I, goes to Winfield for a triangular that also includes a rematch with Rose Hill. The state-ranked Rockets really pushed the Bullpups last week in their home opener as MHS had pull away late in both sets to win the match.
MHS needs to stay focus and not look ahead since Saturday is a huge day. MHS competes in the Newton Invitational and in addition to the host Railers, there are other strong teams there such as Andale and Andover Central.
