HUTCHINSON — It was a difficult day for McPherson’s eighth-grade volleyball teams on Monday.

Both the A- and B-teams were swept in a triangular.

The A-team lost to Salina Lakewood (8-25, 15-25) and Hutchinson (7-25, 13-25).

“We were without one of our setters tonight, so we had to readjust our rotations and a few people had to play new positions,” MMS coach Jacque Gehrt said. “We had some good digs, blocks and rallies against both teams, but had trouble serve receiving.”

MMS is now 1-12 on the season.

The B-team also lost in straight sets, 20-25, 17-25 to Lakewood and 16-25, 16-25 to Hutch. The Bullpups are now 3-9.

“The team has improved so much this season,” MMS coach Amie McDaniel said. “We are starting to put it all together and get some good rallies. They played both teams close and kept fighting.”

The Bullpups host Newton and Salina Lakewood on Monday.
