The two new Division Chief positions at the McPherson Fire Department have officially been filled.
“I am happy to announce that, last Friday, we interviewed two candidates,” McPherson Fire Chief Jeff Deal said. “Both candidates did exceptionally well and the committee was in a unified agreeance for promoting both of those individuals.”
The hiring committing also included Newton Fire Chief Mark Willis and McPherson City Clerk and Human Resources Officer Tammy Seely.
Deal received permission from the McPherson City Commission Monday to promote Captain Randy Willems as the new Division Chief of Inspections and Maintenance and Captain TJ Wyssmann as the Division Chief of Training and Operations.
The promotions take effect next Monday. The new positions were in response to the retirement of long-time assistant fire chief Rick Unruh and is an organizational shift that is intended to lead to the appointment of a deputy chief within the next couple of years.
