A late-night bus stop in McPherson and Lindsborg may soon go away.

The Hutchinson News reports that the Kansas Department of Transportation and Village Tours are considering ending the stops in McPherson, Hutchinson and Lindsborg on the BeeLine Express bus route from Wichita to Salina.

The bus make the round trip twice per day, making a stop in McPherson at 2:08 a.m. and Lindsborg at 2:30 a.m. The Hutchinson stop is at 1:30 a.m.

Information from K-DOT says that, on average for a month, about 9.1 people get on and 3 people get off in Hutchinson, 1.7 in McPherson and just three-tenths in Lindsborg.

The proposal wouldn't effect afternoon northbound and early morning and evening southbound stops.

Part of the reasoning behind the suggestion to discontinue the stops is to allow riders to make a connection with the Amtrack train in Newton.
