HERINGTON — It was one of the better weekends in recent memory for the Canton-Galva volleyball team as it went 4-2 to take third place in the Herington Invitational.

“We played well as a team this weekend,” first-year coach Kaitlyn Bressie said. “We had contributions from everyone and I think that was one of the keys to our success. Playing six matches in one day makes for a long day, but all of the girls hustled and competed all day. It was awesome to bring home a plaque and medals and see the girls be rewarded for all of their hard work so far this season.”

The Eagles’ wins came against Herington (25-13, 25-23), Sunrise Christian Academy (25-20, 25-9), Centre (25-19, 16-25, 25-19) and Rural Vista (25-11, 25-13).

The Eagles weren’t that far from being 6-0. They lost two exciting sets against Sacred Heart (25-27, 24-26) and took Council Grove to three sets (22-25, 25-17, 13-25).

It’s home sweet home for the Eagles this week as they host a modified quad on Tuesday and then the annual Canton-Galva Invitational on Saturday.

C-G is 10-8 on the season.
