MARION RESERVOIR — When McPherson College’s men’s cross country team returns here Nov. 7 for the KCAC Championships, it will be hoping for the same result as in the Tabor College Invitational contested last Friday.
The Mac men had four finishers in the Top 10 (among those who scored for the team standings) to capture the meet. The women had two runners make the Top 15 and took fifth.
Mac’s Dixon Cooney ran a 27:58.58 to finish second in the men’s race. Michael Janzer was right behind in third in 28:08.68. Felix Cervantes posted a 28:31.83 to take eighth, followed by Jerod Fuller at 28:39.69 (10th). The final scoring Bulldog was Jesse Freeman at 28:42.10, good for 12th.
The Bulldogs finished with 33 points, easily finishing ahead of Friends (62) and Sterling (114). Other KCAC finishers were Tabor (5th with 149), and Bethany (9th with 212).
For the women, Laura Gibson posted a 19:55.50 to take third place among those who counted toward the team scoring. Miranda Clark Ulrich was 20:57.82 for 15th. Other scorers were Taylor Dreiling (31st in 21:49.94), Savana Cross (34th at 22:17.14) and Lauren Wankum (37th at 22:48.26).
The Bulldogs scored 120 points, but finished third among the KCAC schools behind Friends and Sterling.
Mac competes Oct. 10 at Fort Hays State.
