Enrollment at USD 418 is up 42 students over 2014.
“In grades third through seventh grade, every one of those grades had significant growth,” USD 418 Superintendent Mark Crawford said. “We graduated 140 last year, counting the alternative school, and our kindergarten count this year is 168. These total numbers are not counting Pre-K students.”
The 42 extra students won't change this year's budget any due to the block grant formula implemented this past spring by the state legislature.
“With an additional 42 students, we would typically have to republish and our budget would slightly increase,” Crawford said. “That will not happen this year.”
In total, the district saw a headcount of 2,308 students as of Sept. 21. The K-5 total was 1,024 students, McPherson Middle School was at 549 and the high school reported 714.
Lincoln and Roosevelt Elementary Schools were the only ones reporting a decrease in students from 2014. Lincoln was down 12 students, while Roosevelt was down two.
The numbers do not include the ESSDACK students in addition to Pre-K.
