Representatives from the South Central Kansas Economic Development District visited with both McPherson City and County Commissioners Monday morning.

Marion County Economic Development Director Teresa Huffman says it's part of a larger movement to raise the visibility of SCKEDD.

“I believe in what SCKEDD does and, sometimes, we just haven't done a good job of blowing our own horns,” Huffman said. “People just need to know what we do. We know, so we think everyone else knows and that's just not true.”

Christy Henry is the SCKEDD Loan Program Manager and says there are a number of ways they can help small businesses.

“We have various different loan programs for small businesses that can assist with start up costs, expansion,” Henry said. “We can fund anything from a large real estate project to a small micro-loan. We can loan as little as $500 or up to, if it's a large SBA program, we can work on a project that's over $5 million.”
