SALINA — Central Christian College’s men’s golf team showed great improvement on Day 2 of the Kansas Wesleyan Invitational and finished in seventh place out of 10 teams.
The Tigers had carded a 312 on Monday, but fired an impressive 300 on Tuesday for a 612 final total at the Salina Muni.
The Tigers’ Collin Duckworth just finished out of the Top 10 with a 74-74-148 as he tied for 11th. Ty Howell shot matching 76s for a 152 total for 26th place.
Other Tigers were JP Ray (82-73-155), Lowell Stephens (82-77-159) and Matthew Hargett (80-81-161).
Barton County shot a blazing 9-under-par 551 to win the team title. It was led by medalist Natchapol Srindon, who had rounds of 65-66-131 for a two-shot win over teammate Seokhun Kang, who had rounds of 67-66.
Bethany, which brought most its second-five players, shot 585 to take second. Other team scores were Kansas Wesleyan (586), Sterling (586), Fort Hays (587), Bethel (598), Central (612), Haskell (629), Bethel B (631) and Kansas Wesleyan B (637).
Bethany was led by Juan Pablo Sin (71-70-141). Other BC scores were Nathan Limbacher (71-74-145), Scoby Chikwari (76-74-150), Jacob Hebbel (79-71-150) and Thomas Felling (78-79-157).
