OTTAWA — McPherson College’s volleyball team had its three-match winning streak ended on Monday by the KCAC’s No. 1 team.

Conference leader Ottawa dealt the Bulldogs a straight-sets loss even though Mac was highly competitive in the first two sets.

The Bulldogs were up 13-11 in the first set when the Braves went on a run to close it out for a 25-20 victory. Mac was seeking to tie things up in the second set with a 12-7 lead, but again Ottawa imposed its will during the latter stages of the match for a 25-22 success. It was all Ottawa in Set 3, 25-14.

Lexi Kile put down 11 kills to lead the Bulldogs, while Rhianna Smith totaled 16 assists. Emily Warner was the dig leader with 16.

Mac is now 1-8 in the KCAC and 6-15 overall. It wraps up the first round of KCAC play on Wednesday by hosting Southwestern. The match is set to be the annual Cancer Awareness contest, with all of the gate proceeds going to Women and Children Combatting Cancer of McPherson. The JV match starts at 5:30 p.m.  with varsity beginning at 7:00.
