HUTCHINSON — Canton-Galva’s volleyball team, coming off its second-place finish in its own tournament on Saturday, played two highly competitive league matches on Tuesday, winning one and losing one.

The Eagles knocked off Trinity Catholic 15-25, 26-24, 26-24 in a thrilling three-setter. That was followed up by an equally intense match, but the Eagles lost to Sedgwick also in three (25-17, 18-25, 22-25).

The Sedgwick match was the close of league play as C-G finished HOA action at 4-5.

“It was an emotional night, going to three sets in both of our matches,” C-G coach Kaitlyn Bressie said. “We had a hard-fought win against Trinity and that was very exciting. Then, we had a tough loss to Sedgwick. They adjusted better than we did and that was the difference. They are a very well-coached team. We ended with a 4-5 record in the HOA and I am very proud of that.”

The Eagles are 15-12 overall as they now take a long break as they are off until Oct. 17.
