McPherson City Commissioners made a pilot program for drug testing employees permanent Monday.
“A little bit over a year ago, we started a project where we started doing our own swab tests in-house before we send out to corporate health for UA testing,” McPherson City Administrator Nick Gregory said. “I think it has been a very successful process.”
Gregory added that, if there is a positive result on the oral swab, the city's policy is to repeat the test.
“If it does continue to show positive, we will send it to a certified lab,” Gregory said. “It goes through that process and they do the official piece there.”
Gregory adds there is a significant cost benefit to swabbing first.
