WICHITA — After years of being in the shadows of the wildly successful men’s soccer team, the McPherson College women are carving out their own niche this season.

The Bulldogs improved to 3-1 in the KCAC on Wednesday with a 2-1 victory over Friends. Mac is now 7-4 overall.

Cydney Lewis scored both goals for the Bulldogs, the first coming 2 minutes into the game. Both were unassisted.

Sheryl Evans had four saves in goal to earn yet another victory.

Mac is back home on Saturday to take on Bethel, with game time 12:30 p.m.

• Friends men 1, Mac 0, OT — Sometimes you have to wonder if it’s just not your year.

McPherson College’s men just can’t seem to get any traction going, as the 1-0 loss dropped them to 2-2 in the KCAC.

Aaron Parrott had eight saves for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs, who dropped to 5-7 overall as a win would have gotten them to .500, will try to get well on Saturday by hosting Bethel at 3 p.m.
