Two sets into its match Wednesday night at the Sport Center, McPherson College’s volleyball team was thinking it might pull off a major upset.
The Bulldogs had split sets with powerful Kansas Wesleyan, winning the second 25-23 after losing 10-25 in the opener.
The Bulldogs were gritty in each of the final two sets, but wound up losing 21-25 and 24-26 to fall to 1-11 in the KCAC, 6-18 overall.
Wesleyan remains in the hunt for the KCAC title at 10-2 in the conference and is 16-9 overall.
Leia Seiler led Mac in kills with 13, while Maci Schlehuber and Rhianna Smith were the assist leaders with 20 and 19, respectively. Emily Warner was far and away the digs leader with 29.
Mac makes the exhaustive trip to Oklahoma Wesleyan on Saturday for a 2 p.m. dual, then returns home on Monday to take on Bethel.
