DERBY — McPherson Middle School’s cross country team wrapped up its season on Tuesday, with the seventh-grade girls the big story by taking second place.

Kassidy Beam (4th) and Lexi Kynaston (8th) were in the championship hunt as they were the standouts of the day.

“Several of them turned in a PR for their final race of the season,” MMS coach Gentry Nixon said. “They have worked really hard this season, getting physically and mentally stronger as the season has progressed. It has been a lot of fun to coach them and see them grow. There is a lot of potential there for the future.”
