COLUMBIA, Mo. — Central Christian College began play in the Stephens Invitational Volleyball Tournament on Friday with a split.

CCC is now 16-10 on the season.

The Lady Tigers lost to Avila, 27-29, 19-25, 25-20, 23-25. Haley Bannister led in kills with  22. Kasi Kraus added 10. Ciara Costello recorded 34 digs.

Central swept Harris-Stowe in straight sets, 25-15, 25-13, 25-12. Bannister and Kraus again led the Tiger offense with 11 and 10 kills, respectively.

"For some reason we're struggling with the simple task of serving the ball in the court” CCC coach Christina Ludwick said. “We work on it enough to be good at it, but for some reason we just don't execute in a game. It's too bad, because we competed in all facets of the game today versus Avila except for that one stat line. We're running out of time to figure it out, so hopefully we do soon."

CCC continues play today with two more matches.
