DENVER — Central Christian College’s women’s soccer team completed a 2-0 weekend on Saturday with a 3-0 victory over Mount Mary.

The Lady Tigers continued their amazing turnaround season as they are now 12-3.

CCC led 2-0 at the half before adding an insurance goal after the break.

Jaclyn Carranza and Marianna Mercer tallied first-half goals, while Isabel Sierra completed the scoring. Assists went to Sierra, Madison Strickland and Krystina Stackhouse.

Shayna Watkins recorded yet another shutout in goal.

“We put in a solid defensive effort today," CCC coach Scott Fogarty said. "They had very few looks at goal and I was pleased with that. They, likewise, had a solid defensive strategy. Playing a very high off-sides line, they caught us off-sides 14 times. They also did a great job of limiting our space to play in midfield. We had trouble getting our timing right off the ball, but we broke it a couple of times and we're able to get enough offense generated to get three goals. We're now 12-3 with three more games left in the regular season. We have to keep pushing ourselves and clean up a few little things as we gear up for our first postseason as a program in many years."

The Lady Tigers have a week off before hosting Hillsdale Freewill Baptist on Saturday.

• CCC men 8, Mount Mary 1 — It was as much fun as the Tigers have had all year as they are now 7-9.

This was a no-contest as the Tigers were superior in all phases.

Jayke Maples scored two goals for the Tigers, with singletons by Cole Housh, Gabriel Flores, Takahiro Koga, Oscar Pizano, Joshua Taylor and Sebastian Diaz Carbo. Flores had three assists, while Taylor, Diaz Carbo, Joshua Dalton and Ray Anderson all had one.

“Today was a solid outing all around,” CCC coach Aaron Hoxie said. “There were plenty of created chances and opportunistic finishing. We are one more win away from accomplishing our goal for the year. We will work hard this week to get ready for Senior Night on Saturday."

Hillsdale will be the opponent.
