LR, ECS spikers 1-2 in WSL tourney

LITTLE RIVER — As expected, Goessel easily won the Wheat State League volleyball championship on Saturday as the Bluebirds continued their relentless pursuit of a perfect season.

Goessel, ranked No. 1 in Class 1A, defeated Solomon 25-10, 25-4 in the championship match. Its pool wins were over Wakefield (25-2, 25-8), Little River (25-5, 25-14) and Rural Vista (25-7), and then it defeated Centre 25-9, 25-13 in the semifinals as it was never challenged on the day.

Little River was 1-2, with the win coming against Rural Vista (25-15, 25-17). Elyria Christian also was 1-2 in pool play, with the win against Centre (16-25, 25-9, 25-21). Neither school advanced to bracket play.
