McPherson College’s volleyball team saw one of its best chances to pick up its second conference victory slip through its hands here on Monday, as the Bulldogs lost a five-setter to Bethel despite a big night by Taryn Lee.

Lee threw down 15 kills for her second-highest total of the year.

But that didn’t prevent the Bulldogs from falling to 1-13 in the KCAC and 6-20 overall, while Bethel won for just the second time in conference play this season.

Mac won the first set 25-23, but Bethel came back to win the next two, 25-14 and 30-28.

The Bulldogs totally reversed their fortunes by pounding Bethel 25-11 in the fourth set to force a decider. There, Mac couldn’t get anything going as the Threshers dominated for a 15-6 win.

Lexi Kite added 10 kills for the Bulldogs. Maci Schlehuber and Rhianna Smith led in assists with 24 and 19, respectively. Emily Warner hustled to 28 digs.

The Bulldogs play Wednesday at Sterling.
