City of McPherson clarifies drug and alcohol rehab leave policy

McPherson City Commissioners voted Monday to amend their drug and alcohol rehab policy for employees.

Specifically, City Administrator Nick Gregory says the changes focus on the amount of leave an employee seeking drug or alcohol treatment is allotted.

“The city will grant rehabilitation leave up to the amount of accrued, but unused, sick leave, vacation leave, and, thereafter, the employee's available FMLA leave,” Gregory said, “as if such rehabilitation qualifies for FMLA leave.”

The commission approved the change unanimously.
